Seeking an Associate Director, Global Market Research and Analytics to join their team .


  • Solid Pharma/Biotech Market Research experience (including vendor side)
  • Primary and Secondary, Qual and Quant
  • Strategic partner to the brand teams
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Global experience is a plus
  • Rare disease or orphan product experience is a plus
  • Ability to hit the ground running
  • Desire and ability to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship
  • Must be based in Boston – not a commuter or remote role (relo provided)
  • The role of the AD Global Market Research and Analytics is to support the company’s global marketing teams by enabling high quality, evidence-based decision making. This person will play a key role in mining critical insights from global primary and secondary market data and research to inform and drive strategic decisions for both the US and with ex-US affiliates. Additionally, this person will work across functions, primarily with marketing teams, to execute global primary market research projects to address business questions, strategy development and promotional material evaluation. The key regional teams this position will interact with are: US, Europe, Japan, Australia/Canada, and Latin America.


  • Deliver qualitative and quantitative primary market research projects to address key business questions completely independently. Understand the business need when designing a project, matching methodology and vendor to provide answers and actionable information.
  • Execute projects in a timely manner and within budget. Presentation of final results and strategic insights
  • Analyze primary and secondary data sets to extract country and region-specific insights to identify issues and trends to better inform decision-making and strategy development
  • Evaluate patient level data to capture insights on treatment trends and patient management approaches
  • Independently respond to ad hoc requests for key commercial and business insights,
  • Innovate to conduct market research and analytics that exemplify best practices and build enhanced value for commercial partners
  • Skills & Experience:

  • Experience conducting primary and secondary market research in pharma/biotech
  • Demonstrated strategic & critical thinking abilities and business acumen
  • Strong ability to listen to and interpret data, think about the story it is trying to tell, and effectively communicate the findings to key stakeholders. Inquisitiveness to anticipate and answer the follow up questions
  • Ability to assess data sets from primary market research and secondary sources to mine additional insights
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of statistics and SAS or SPSS
  • Expertise using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Reporting:

  • Ensure the voice of the customer, patient, & healthcare professional is embedded in critical business decisions
  • Arrange presentations & meetings to share insights on a regular basis
  • Construct clear concise summary reports or dashboards for senior regional leads that provide a snapshot of impactful activities and trends in their regions and illustrate changes in awareness, behavior and knowledge of target physicians
  • Probe beyond the descriptive insights provided in top line reports from primary market research to uncover diagnostics insights that explain the ‘why’s’ behind the reported results
  • Provide insights support for forecasting and strategic and/or tactical planning
  • Managing Internal & External Resources:

  • Manage the market research budget as assigned
  • Initiate RFPs with multiple vendors and management of vendor selection process
  • Effective use of internal & external secondary data sources to conduct appropriate analysis
  • Review and assess market research agencies and data suppliers. This will encompass a variety of agencies. Primary research, secondary data, and forecasting services
  • Draft statement of work documentation to support engagement with healthcare practitioners and patients
  • Independently manage vendor interactions to ensure results & insights meet mission critical timelines
  • Partnering & Communication:

  • Develop strong partnerships with cross-functional teams – marketing, medical, sales, business analytics, commercial operations and new products groups
  • Ensure relevant team members are engaged at key stages of project to ensure that critical business questions are adequately addressed
  • Ensure full team buy-in on the project and its deliverables
  • Incorporate future business needs in scope and design of projects
  • Go beyond a project-based mindset and be a strategic partner. Understand business issues and offer strategic insight. Communicate these clearly and ensure that these drive business decisions
  • Leverage partnerships with regional affiliates to identify best practices in market research and share these with global affiliates
  • Remain flexible as work responsibilities change based on business needs
  • Compliance and Legal Requirements:

  • Ensure work products meet compliance and legal requirements
  • Embrace and exemplify the company’s values & integrity

  • Bachelor’s degree in life science and/or business / marketing required; MBA/PhD degree – marketing, market research, statistics preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in market research and analytics
  • Ability to travel approx. 20% of time
  • Experience in a market research firm, or pharmaceutical insights and analytics role preferred
  • Experience in specialty/orphan drugs is a plus
  • Experience in hematology, neurology, & metabolic diseases is a plus
  • Experience in a global role is a plus
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus
  • Analytics & Forecasting skills preferred
  • Commercial Analytics and ROI Tracking for Marketing programs preferred
  • Combination of prelaunch, launch and post-launch experience preferred
